Upgrades Result in Faster Turnaround for Customers
In 2007, Pella Engraving added a new CNC router and laser engraver to its equipment line-up. Software upgrades were also made. The additions “increase our ability to meet customer needs,” said co-owner Bruce Van Wyk.
The CNC router cuts larger pieces than Pella Engraving could previously handle. It also offers flexibility of material choice for customers—aluminum, Corian®, wood, and acrylic can all be routed into precise shapes.
The new CNC router can:
- work with aluminum, acrylic, wood, and Corian.
- manufacture individual letter cut-outs.
- cut irregular shapes with accuracy.
- produce large, one-piece signage.
The machine has created everything from a seal for a local school to individual numbers for a large athletic and academic hall of fame wall for a college.
A new laser engraver also handles larger sizes. “Two lasers mean twice the capacity. It has also lowered turnaround to one week or less,” said Bruce.
Layout and design software upgrades will increase the efficiency of this initial stage of production. “We are always looking to improve our processes and increase our capabilities in areas we’ve never been in before,” concluded Bruce.
Pella Engraving Company offers plaques, signage, awards, and custom gifts. Since 1934, PEC has taken pride in providing high-quality standards for old-world craftsmanship.
