City Discovers the Art of Plaque Making

The residents of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, are proudly displaying some new city signage thanks to Pella Engraving artists, who created a 28- by 35-inch plaque using only a small, 2-inch sticker as a guide. (See photo.)

The seashell, a key graphic element, was line drawn, and no clip art was used. The color of the shell, a vibrant golden-orange, was custom-matched on the final magnesium plaque. The deep blue of the pebbled background was also a custom color.

The city of North Myrtle Beach was only one of many PEC customers to discover that plaque making is an art. It takes time, talent, training, and technical know-how to produce top quality plaques like those created by PEC. Pella Engraving can complete about 175 plaques in a full day.

But, in spite of their production volume, Pella Engraving understands the meaning of each individual plaque. “A customer recently called to thank us and said our plaque, which honored his deceased brother, brought tears to his eyes,” said Bruce. “We understand how important our products are to our customers, and that is why we take such care with what we do.”
