April 2009 Plasma Cutter Does Intricate Work at Pella Engraving Company Pella Engraving Company in Pella, Iowa, recently welcomed a new team member to the shop—a plasma cutter capable of cutting straight through molten metal with surgical precision. The plasma cutter sends an electric arc through a gas that is passing through a constricted opening. The gas heats up to become plasma and also a precise cutting tool. The cutting torch of the PEC plasma cutter is accurately controlled by a computer, so intricate curves, inside curves, and sharp corners are executed to perfection. A great tool for individual lettering, the plasma cutter at PEC executes these types of jobs quickly and cuts down on turnaround time. |
